Born and raised in New Orleans in a family of artists, Mary began painting at an early age. By the time she was a teenager she was teaching in her own art school for children. In Silicon Valley CA she was a popular demonstrator for art clubs. She taught painting in elementary schools for years, including having students help her complete enormous backdrops for plays. Her innovative "loose" teaching style provided her full classes while an instructor for ADULT EDUCATION in Silicon Valley. Mary has shown her paintings in galleries & businesses in Carmel, Carmel Valley, Los Altos and Sunnyvale CA, as well as her own gallery in Benicia CA in 2012. 

 

HER ARTIST STATEMENT:

"To express myself creatively has been the core of my existence since childhood. Without it I don't feel grounded. And I want to show others the beauty in what may at first seem to be an ordinary subject with my representational art. Regarding my abstract paintings I recognize with greater clarity that making them is an equally rewarding experience. To have no restriction in what my end product should be is a wonderful experience."
