Mary Frances Kelly Poh
I began doing Needlepoint in 1971 and later took up Cross stitch which I did for a number of years, but I never lost my love of Needlepoint.
I stitch almost exclusively using various silk and metallic threads. I specialize in color and decorative stitches. I stitch designs by leading designers and my own designs. I design purses and plaids. After I retired as a registered nurse, I started spending more time stitching as it usually takes me 4 to 6 months to complete a project.
I have always loved art and I took various art classes in college. I wanted to be able to use my art to design special needlework designs. I went back to Solano Community College and took watercolor classes, I also took drawing classes from Larnie Fox at Arts Benicia. I primarily paint 5x7 pictures of California native plants. I started taking watercolor classes from Samantha McNally. I have started painting larger paintings and will have some in the unframed bin.
